Are you looking for things to do in Central Park? Then you came to the right place! Central Park is known as New York City’s backyard. Central Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux and gets around 38 million visitors every year.

I don’t know how many times I’ve been to Central Park, but it’s a lot, and I must say I know the park pretty well and have seen everything there is to see. Central Park is my absolute favorite place in New York City. In this post, I will list my favorite things to see and do in Central Park. Enjoy!

1. Walk around Bethesda Terrace

There is no more iconic and beautiful place in Central Park than the Bethesda Terrace and Fountain area. This is my top choice of places to visit in the park. You also might recognize this location from many movies and tv shows that take place in New York City.

2. Explore the Great Lawn

This 13-acre lawn hosts free concerts by the Metropolitan Opera and New York Philharmonic during the summertime. The concerts draw up to 100,000 people.

3. Walk on Bow Bridge

Central Park has around 40 arches and bridges and one of the most beautiful one is the Bow Bridge located next to Bethesda Terrace and Fountain.

4. Check out the views from Belvedere Castle

This beautiful stone castle will give you a beautiful view of all directions in the park and is a great place to visit. Inside you can find the Henry Luce Nature Observatory with exhibits covering the park’s wildlife.

5. Visit Strawberry Fields

This is a very peaceful garden and a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. This garden was created by Yoko ono in memory of John Lennon who lived nearby in the Dakota apartments and pass away in 1980.

6. Walk over Gapstow Bridge

Head to this bridge for one of the best views in Central Park of the surrounding skyline as well as the famous Plaza Hotel. Walking over the bridge will make you feel like you’re in a movie.

7. Climb on Alice in Wonderland statue

This is the best thing to do if you’re visiting Central Park with kids. They’re actually allowed to climb the statue!

8. See the Conservatory Garden

This is a beautiful garden with fountains and displays of flowering trees and bulbs is at it’s best in spring, when everything is in bloom.

9. Look at model boats at Conservatory Water

Find a bench, sit back and enjoy a quiet time watching some model sailboats going around on the water. You might recognize this location from the movie Stuart Little.

10. Go ice skating at Wollman Rink – Winter

If you happen to visit Central Park during the winter months, you just like in movies, go ice skating. Head to the Wollman Rink located in the South Part of the Park.
